Sid Yiddish aka Charles Bernstein is an international industrial poet-actor-throat singing-tap-dancing furby spy, made up of refrigerated leftovers.

He has performed throughout the United States with and without his five furbies & has widely published in; Tomorrow , Oyez Review , Flipside , Bad Newz , Si Senor, Magnetic Poetry Book of Poetry , and Scars Publications Poetry Calendar 2005 , Poetry SuperHighway.com , Muse-Apprentice-Guild.com, Poem800.com & others. From 1986 to 1991, he published the poetry fanzine, Cops Hate Poetry . Currently he's producing his fourth spoken word/music CD, set for release in fall, 2008 and working diligently as the Chicago coordinator for the Bathroom Poetry Installation Project. In his spare time, he roots out sounds on his 3 Shofars (ram's horns), bugle and trumpet, to be in harmony with crows and furbies worldwide. He resides in Evanston, Illinois.

*Performance Artist Statement: I see my performance art as a plethora of everything all rolled into a bite-size caramel, which transcends the taste into a visionary passion that incorporates almost everything non-descript and subjective in its path. I believe that performance art is a creative tool that can help those who often dismiss the mundane and ordinary and help build disbelief into something that they can understand. My primary ambition as a performance artist is to embrace and help people connect with their hidden, shy side and let it all hang out with a bit of shine and sparkle in all its glory and to also help them cross bridges, even when it looks frightening and unevenly balanced. These are the goals of my art. My personal motto is: expect the unexpected, only then will we discover the intimate joys, pleasures and delights in the mere smallest of ideas.

As a fan of Jenny Holzer- artist who incorprates text into her art, I
liked the idea of placing poetry where you wouldn't expect.
