Steps:

    1. Contact me at: bathroompoet@hotmail.com

    2. Recruit your poets and poems (coordinators ALWAYS get their poems posted). Send me the poems to format according to the project style.
    3. Find locations (permissions help them stay up longer). Send me address locations for the installations using above e-mail address.
    4. Coordination suggestions:
      • Start small - perhaps with ten poems, 5 authors
      • Keep poems short -can be read in one visit easily
      • Variety - form, free verse, narrative, lyric etc.
      • Location, Location, Location - put poems where they will be read by the general public.
    5. Once your town is added to the project and the map built for your area as part of the website, I will e-mail you formatted versions of your poems to print and post IN YOUR CITY/TOWN (allow two weeks for build, art and mailing).
    6. Local coordinator does the initial installations or asks their local poets to do this, either way, the coordinator should occasionally check sites to see if the poems are still up, or if they need replacement/rotation/variety etc.
    7. After the initial posting, I follow-up with a letter to the "events manager" for that specified location in order thank them and to explain the project.
    8. When your poems is accepted as part of the The Bathroom Poetry Project, The Bathroom Poet acquires initial electronic rights and indefinite internet archive rights, as well as first/one time hard-copy publication rights in the event that a chapbook or other paper publication is created from the project. Copyright is retained by the author - always.
    9. Press - local papers love this project - coordinators can contact their local paper and get press coverage - I will be happy to supply a press kit for you.

Other considerations -

Keep in mind these poems should be posted public bathrooms rather than private locations in order to maximize exposure to the poetry-in-non-traditional-spaces. Content can be anything as long as you think it is appropriate for the location.

Alas, no payment for participation in this project at this time.
