AT THE TIDAL BASIN
The dark tree branches cradle, and
release their budding emblems of spring:
pink and white blossoms drift
on the uplifting April breeze.
Spring celebrates her new births
with festive showers of confetti
to flush out the tangled
cobwebs of our winter.
She gleefully redecorates faded car hoods,
bedecks strolling pedestrians,
and polka dots windswept sidewalks,
like seasonal artwork in perpetual motion.
